This experience has given her a data-driven mindset and an evidence-based approach to solving challenges. Combined with her sector knowledge of the laundry industry, she offers a blend of operational understanding, academic thoroughness, and fresh strategic perspective, which has been and will continue to be invaluable to supporting the team and processes at Jacksons.

Dr Melanie Mackinder
“I’m excited not only to be making Jacksons history as the first female executive director, and to be following in the footsteps of such inspiring women, but to also have the privilege of working alongside so many strong women every day”.
During her time as Director of People and Performance so far, she has established a reputation for transforming culture, improving performance, and championing inclusion. This is evidenced by the initiatives Mel has already put in place and the support she provides to all members of the team. She brings new and innovative ideas to the table, supporting them from start to finish.
Mel is passionate about developing people, strengthening leadership and creating environments where teams can thrive. Throughout her career, she has mentored emerging leaders and guided multidisciplinary teams through growth, change, and high-stakes delivery, which will no doubt benefit Jacksons as we continue to grow.
This appointment marks an important milestone at Jacksons and reflects the progress we continue to make towards inclusive leadership. As a team that is over 50% female, these diverse perspectives strengthen decision-making and challenge conventional thinking to better reflect the way we operate. We welcome Mel to the board not only as a moment of pride but as a sign of our commitment to ensuring leadership is shaped by talent, experience and vision.
