Here at Jacksons Workwear Rental, we pride ourselves not only on the service we provide to our customers but the help we give to the local community. As charity partners of St. Barnabas Hospice, we look to raise as much as possible every year for them. Over the last 8 years, our total stands at around £25,000 and our Family Fun Event has been a great contribution to this. This is a testament to the work of all of the staff each year as they come up with new ideas to raise money and continue to donate to this fantastic cause.

Family Fun Month

This year’s newly formed fundraising team are holding regular meetings with our marketing team and St Barnabas Hospice themselves to ensure we’re working together to provide the best fundraising activities, especially as Covid-19 hit everyone hard and limited the opportunities available to everyone.

It was highlighted to us that across the UK, August was “Family Fun” month. As we have family links running through the business in every department, we thought it was only fitting that we spent our next fundraising event celebrating this.

Family is important to all of us. As much as we wanted to organise an event that could incorporate families from the local community, Covid-19 restrictions and the safety of the Jacksons workforce had to be the priority. We decided to keep the event for staff/immediate family (and hopefully do something in the future that caters for more people).

The Event

The fundraising team got their thinking caps on and reached out to local businesses and shops for donations. We received an abundance of amazing prizes from many organisations and we would like to thank everyone who donated a prize for such a good cause.

On Tuesday the 31st of August we held our carnival-themed family fun event for staff. Along the riverbank we had games stalls galore, from hook-a-duck and ring toss to pin the tail on the donkey. With lots of sweet and chocolate up for grabs, it was time for everyone’s competitive nature to come out. There were lots of laughs as we had raffle winners receiving giant packs of toilet roll, large tomato ketchup bottles and fairy liquid in amongst the more exciting prizes!  We provided drinks, and there were some amazing desserts on sale made by Angie Murphy, Chelsea Schofield and Debbie McMahon. Thank you for taking the time to bake and support the event.

We even had Caroline Swindin, the St Barnabas Fundraising Development Manager down. It was great for the staff to meet her and listen to some of the amazing work they do within the community. Although we were all having fun, we didn’t want to forget the reason behind it.

In total, with raffle ticket sales, the games and the cakes, our fantastic team raised an incredible £497.62, which will be added to the fundraising pot for the year.

Thank you, from all at Jacksons Workwear Rental and St Barnabas Hospice, as well as all the people they support, to:

All of the prizes donated were incredible offerings that our staff were absolutely delighted to win. Your support is very much appreciated.
