In today’s world, sustainability is more than just a buzzword; it’s a responsibility. At Jacksons Workwear Rental, we understand the impact that businesses can have on the environment, and that we have a responsibility to the environment beyond legal, regulatory and customer requirements. That’s why we make a conscious commitment to sustainability and are continually looking to improve our environmental performance. Along with prioritising sustainability within our own operations, we also extend a helping hand to other businesses looking to embrace eco-conscious practices with the services we offer.

Certified ISO14001 Company

Our dedication to sustainability begins with our ISO14001 certification. This internationally recognised environmental standard sets out the criteria for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Environmental Management System. It helps us to systematically manage our environmental impact and is a testament to our commitment to minimising our environmental footprint. It also drives us to continually improve our environmental performance by reducing waste, conserving resources, and managing our impact on nature.

Understanding ISO 14001:

ISO14001 requires that Jacksons Workwear Rental has an established environmental policy which outlines our commitment to compliance, and continual improvement of environmental performance. This environmental policy includes clear objectives and targets for our environmental performance, along with an action plan and defined roles to implement and establish them. Jacksons is also required to monitor and measure our environmental performance regularly against set objectives. This data is then used to evaluate compliance, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions. Management review is also necessary to ensure the continuation of sustainability, adequacy, and effectiveness. All of this aids in the process of continuous improvements which ISO14001 place a strong emphasis on.

We work closely with Citation ISO certification to achieve this standard which helps us continually improve the environmental thinking of the business, as well as provide reassurance to company management, employees, and customers that Jacksons Workwear Rental complies with environmental regulations, takes its environmental impact seriously and aims to frequently measure and improve the environmental impact of the business.

The Environmental Committee

One thing we have in place at Jacksons is an Environmental Committee. We know that sustainability isn’t just a one-time effort, that is why we established a committee which allows staff to present their ideas. This committee is comprised of individuals from our management team, our office team, our production team, and our engineering team, who meet regularly to review and discuss the environmental impact the business has from all angles. This allows people to present their ideas and discuss how we can enhance our sustainability initiatives.

Sustainable Fleet

We’ve also taken steps to reduce our carbon emissions. Our latest car renewal includes only electric vehicles, which help minimise our environmental impact by contributing to cleaner air. Additionally, we prioritise efficient route planning to minimise travel distances and promote cycling to work through our cycle-to-work scheme which you can read more about here.

Reduced Material Waste

We recognise that excessive paper usage and wasteful packaging can harm the environment. That’s why we’ve implemented measures to minimise paper consumption throughout our operations and reuse and recycle all paper where possible. We minimise material waste where we can and seek to reduce the amount of energy and water used by considering the efficiency of any new equipment purchased.

Extending Garment Lifespan

Roughly 350,000 million tonnes of wearable clothing end up in UK landfill each year. Here at Jacksons, we are committed to reducing this waste by extending the lifespan of our workwear garments. Instead of discarding damaged workwear, we repair it, ensuring that each garment reaches its full potential while maintaining safety standards. We regularly maintain and repair garments until they go beyond repair, reducing the amount of unnecessary waste going to landfill. Our stock room also allows us to utilise any available resources efficiently, reducing costs and waste. By choosing workwear rental over the traditional purchase-and-disposable model, businesses can significantly reduce their carbon footprint and minimise textile waste. It is a simple yet powerful step towards a more sustainable future.

Our Ongoing Commitment to sustainability

Sustainability isn’t just a trend at Jacksons Workwear Rental; we are committed to sustainable practices, and constantly seeking innovative solutions to reduce our ecological footprint. We believe that, as a responsible organisation, it’s our duty to commit to environmentally friendly practices. By reducing our waste, and minimising our impact on the environment, we’re not only enhancing our business but also making a positive contribution to the world around us. Join us on this journey towards a more sustainable future by choosing our workwear service.
